ISACA-RI CISA Review Course

Session Description: 
The ISACA Rhode Island CISA Review Course is intended to assist candidates in preparing for the CISA exam. The course has been developed and organized to assist candidates in their study.
The course is organized into five domains:

 

  • Domain 1 - The Process of Auditing Information System
  • Domain 2 - Governance and Management of IT
  • Domain 3 - Information Systems Acquisition, Development and Implementation
  • Domain 4 - Information Systems Operations, Maintenance and Support
  • Domain 5 - Protection of Information Assets

Included with this course: The following materials are included:

  • Copy of instructor notes
  • Copy of CISA slides
  • Copy of sample test (100 questions and answers)

Students taking this review course and planning to take the CISA exam in December should consider the following:

  • Order the 2014 CISA Review Manual
  • Order the sample test questions (CD or on-line)
Presenter Bio(s):
Larry Wilson, CISA, CISSP, ISA
Larry Wilson is the Information Security Lead for the University of Massachusetts President's Office. In this role, Larry is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing compliance with the UMASS Information Security Policy and Written Information Security Plan (WISP).

Prior to joining UMASS, Larry was the Vice President, Network Security Manager at State Street.  In this role he was responsible for selecting, implementing and overseeing an engineering staff who managed network security technologies / tools including vulnerability scanning, network firewalls, intrusion detection, remote access technologies, security event management tools, etc .

Larry's industry experience includes IT audit manager for Deloitte Enterprise Risk Services (ERS) consulting practice.  In this role he managed a staff responsible for developing and completing a Sarbanes Oxley compliance audit for MasterCard International.  Larry's team focused on the application level controls and general computer controls for information technology services that were implemented and managed from the MasterCard data center in St. Louis.  Larry has been teaching CISA certification training for 5 years.

John W. Beveridge, CGFM, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CFE, CQA
John Beveridge is a member of the faculty at Bentley University where he teaches courses in IT auditing, accounting informationsystems, and fraud investigation.

John Beveridge’s career has included serving as Deputy State Auditor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the State Auditor from 1987 to 2011. In that position, John was responsible for the IT Audit Division where he implemented use of CobiT’s Control Objectives, Control Practices, and Management Guidelines as criteria and evaluative tools, developed CobiT -based matrices, and developed and implemented the Closing the Loop Framework for enhancing audit planning. While Deputy Auditor, John served as Co-Chair of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Enterprise Security Board (ESB) and a member of the Commonwealth’s IT Advisory Board. John formalized the process for policy and standards development and initiated ESB’s management advisory role regarding IT security. As Co-Chair, he oversaw the development of IT security policies, standards, and guidelines and served in leadership capacity regarding the implementation of Executive Order 504 on the Protection of Personal Information. Over the past year, John has worked with CPEinteractive where he assisted in developing courses for the company’s IT audit, security, risk management and governance training program, and provided consulting services to external clients. John Beveridge was instrumental in the development of CobiT. He has co-authored Control Practices Guideline for Information Systems Continuity Planning, July 1995, and co-authored an article for the EDP Auditors Association’s Journal 1991. He has authored professional standards for information systems auditing and work-related publications. John has served as a professional reviewer for business publications from the American Management Association and ISACA.
John Beveridge has been the recipient of various awards including the John Kuyers Best Speaker and Conference Contributor Award, given in recognition of providing technical education to IT audit, control and security professionals for national and global conferences, ISACA International; Educator of the Year Award, Boston Chapter of AGA, 2008; Lifetime Achievement Award, Association of CFEs, 2000; Service Award, Boston Chapter of CFE, 1999; Eugene M. Frank Award for Meritorious Service, ISACA International, 1997; Establishment of the John W. Beveridge chievement Award by the New England Chapter of ISACA, 1996; andthe Recognition of Service to ISACA, 1995.
