This program is designed to discuss the anatomy and physiology of Pain in relation to Clinical Conditions.
Format
The program content will be presented in lecture format.
Outline
Hour 1: Review of peripheral nociceptive fibers – anatomy and mechanisms of symptom expression
Hour 2: Neurogenic mechanisms of homeostasis and disease
Hour 3: Spinal pain mechanisms and central sensitization
Hour 4: Spinal cord tracts in relation to pain and visceral disease mimicry syndromes
Hour 5: Pain syndromes: nociceptive, ectopic nociceptive, peripheral neuropathic and central neuropathic
Hour 6: Referred pain mechanisms: arm pain, leg pain, and headaches
Hour 7: Pain documentation requirements for Medicare
Hour 8: PART documentation requirements for Medicare
Hour 9: The treatment of pain – mechanical, chemical, and psychological factors
Hour 10: Gluten neuropathies: gluten-induced headaches, gluten-induced peripheral and central neuropathies
Hour 11: Discopathic pain syndromes: annular injury, disc herniation, internal disruption and treatment considerations
Hour 12: Fibromyalgia: pathogenic mechanisms and treatment considerations
