The Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association is pleased to announce the second of two 225th Anniversary Celebrations of the Northern District of New York as the Mother Court on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at the James M. Hanley U.S. Federal Building and Courthouse, 100 South Clinton Street, Syracuse, New York.

The date of the first sitting of the Mother Court, the first Court to convene under the new United States Constitution, was Tuesday, November 3, 1789.  In celebration of this event and in honor of the Court’s first judge, Judge James R. Duane, a commemorative reception is being held at the Syracuse Federal Building and Court House.

The CLE Program:  Historic and Recent Decisions of the Northern District of New York" will compare the District during its creation to the District today, then will discuss procedural issues in civil litigation, and trends in cases (e.g., labor and employment, patent, Social Security, criminal, and prisoner cases).  This program provides 1.0 credits - professional practice and .5 credits - skills.  Register by September 15, 2014.
