Rainbow Room, Rockefeller Center, New York City
Black Tie

The Preservation League of New York State will present its most prestigious commendation, the Pillar of New York Award, at the 2014 Pillar of New York Awards gala on November 12 at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center in New York.

Since 1992 the Preservation League has presented its Pillar of New York Award to individuals and organizations whose work in the field of historic preservation makes them role models for others throughout the state and nation. The 2014 Pillar of New York honorees are:

  • Jeff Greene and EverGreene Architectural Arts
For 35 years, Jeff Greene and the designers and craftsmen at EverGreene Architectural Arts have combined art, science and technology to restore some of the country’s most significant interior spaces including the New York State Capitol, the Rose Reading Room at the New York Public Library, Temple Emanu-El and the Chrysler Building.

  • Marjorie and Gurnee Hart
Together Marjorie and Gurnee Hart nurture a wide array of nonprofit organizations and contribute their considerable skills, leadership and resources to the success of groups that include the Park Avenue Armory, Scenic Hudson and the New York Philharmonic.

  • Anne and Thomas Hubbard
An enduring partnership, Anne and Thomas Hubbard provide extraordinary leadership and generous support for institutions including the Preservation League of New York State, the Metropolitan Opera, the Peconic Land Trust and the New York Botanical Garden, one of the country’s most important horticultural landscapes.

  • Thomas Jayne and Jayne Design Studio
Thomas Jayne, scholar and aesthete, is one of the foremost practitioners of traditional interior design in America. For 25 years, his New York firm, Jayne Design Studio, has created interiors lauded for their sense of history and place, expressing the personality of his patrons and contemporary comfort.

Each year the League presents The Pillar of New York Award to those who have demonstrated a keen understanding of the value of New York’s historic resources by taking extraordinary actions to protect, preserve, and promote those assets. Tickets for the black tie gala start at $750 for individuals, and tables of 10 are available starting at $10,000.
