Complimentary Workshop for Exhibitors:
Interacting with the Consumer - Presented by Dr. Mark Bohan
All PIM Exhibitors will have the opportunity before Print Showcase starts to participate in a workshop on smart packaging, the workshop "Interacting with the Consumer”, the workshop will be from 11:50 am to 12:50 pm.
Dr. Mark Bohan, VP of Technology and Research, will be presenting the workshop:
The graphic communications industry is at an exciting time with many new innovations and technologies that enhance the message to, and interaction with, the consumer. In many cases the consumer expects additional information, improved content and quality – and how can this be provided to them? This session will cover two of the new areas where the consumer interacts with the product, be it through the use of NFC (Near Field Communication) or directly with the packaged product.
NFC offers great opportunities to be used in many different applications to offer added value, differentiation and productivity. The use of NFC is growing and it is critical to understand not only how the technology works but also what are the technical challenges and solutions with it. Discover how NFC technologies can be used to impact today’s business and will affect your future customer interaction. They offer new ways to create a close relationship between the customer and client. Where are markets and applications should NFC could or can be used
Packaging can do many things in addition to making the product stand out on the shelf. One type of enhancement is active packaging and this is when the packaging aims to enhance the performance of the product in some manner. Smart packaging allows the customer to directly interact with the product to provide crucial information regarding its condition both at the point of purchase and importantly prior to this. Discover the latest solutions which have been enabled by these technologies. These have the ability include ingredients that will extend the life or quality of the product, to now print or utilize electronic circuits in the packaging, using specialty inks, and printed sensors / indicators which can be used to analyze the content in package.
Increased information and the utilization of mulit-media solutions are here to stay and provide for the long term future of the industry.
Print Showcase Exhibit Packets will be mailed out sometime in late January.
