Come to our four-part Introduction to Meditation course which begins September 23rd. This course is offered free of charge and is geared toward UW Undergrad and Graduate Students. This course runs for four consecutive Tuesdays from 5 - 6:30 PM at The Crossing 1127 University Ave, Madison, WI.

Course is offered free of charge.

The instructors for this course are Abby Lindemann and Kasumi Kato.

Abby Lindemann first discovered Buddhism and meditation in 2000 while living with a Tibetan Buddhist family during a service learning trip in Nepal. Her interest in contemplative practice and integrating mindfulness and compassion into psychology led her to Naropa University where she received her MA in Contemplative Psychotherapy in 2009. Following her MA training, she worked as a Research Coordinator at the University of Colorado-Boulder focusing on a project that introduced mindfulness and lovingkindness meditation to women during pregnancy. Abby is currently pursuing her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Kasumi Kato grew up in northern Japan, where she learned to meditate from a young age. For the last fifteen years, she has studied yoga, meditation, massage, and other healing arts throughout the world. She has received extensive training in mindfulness and other forms of meditation, including participation in numerous meditation retreats, workshops, seminars, and solitary retreats. In addition to her spiritual practice, Kasumi has received two Master’s degrees and currently teaches Japanese at UW-Whitewater. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, and volunteering for the causes she is passionate about.
