Friends Of The Observatory (FOTO) is Griffith Observatory’s member-based support organization. Founded in 1978
as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, FOTO works to ensure that Griffith Observatory maintains its worldwide reputation for excellence and its stature as an icon of Los Angeles. Griffith Observatory is the only institution in California with a science museum, a major public planetarium and a public telescope, and whose exhibit galleries, grounds, and telescopes are open FREE OF CHARGE until 10:00 p.m. nearly every day and night of the year except Mondays.
