LSI Empower Luncheon 

Join LSI for a celebration of Des Moines' refugee community as you hear from individuals who have overcome great adversity and are now using their skills and experiences to contribute to the wellbeing of their new community.

This year’s luncheon will feature presentations from participants in three LSI programs:

• A beginning farmer in LSI's Global Greens program will share her unique story of perseverance, hope, and her return to food production in Iowa soil.
• An entrepreneur in LSI's Child Care Business Development Program will describe how her gift for caring for children not only provides opportunity for herself, but also helps other parents in the community.
• A graduate of LSI's Intensive Work Readiness Program will share his story of finding work and earning a living in a new culture and community.

Your participation will make an impact on the Des Moines refugee community.

Your attendance will support LSI’s Refugee Commmunity Services, which provides extended support for people of refugee status in the Des Moines metro. Additional LSI services include English as a Second Language classes, citizenship classes and elderly services.

Reservations: $50 per person ($35 of each event registration is tax-deductible as allowed by law.)
