Naturalist Led Walk - Oaks of the Arboretum 

See the beginning of autumn in a whole new light with a naturalist led walk through the Arboretum's oak collection; appreciate the beauty of the trees while gaining insights into the fascinating details of the natural history of genus Quercus.

Join veteran volunteer naturalist Ken Tolonen, who can boast decades of experince naturalizing all over the west coast.  Participants can expect a hands on learning experience and the opportunity to create identification materials for personal use.

Please come prepared to spend an hour or more outdoors in the rain, wind or sun.

Class will begin inside in the Arboretum's Jewett Center with brief introductions before moving outside on the Arboretum grounds for a thorough exploration of the Arboretum's oak collection.  

Participants should bring:

  • Pen and Pencil
  • Water bottle
  • Notebook
  • Snacks (optional)
  • Hand lenses (optional)
  • Personal field guides ( optional)
