Join the Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health for The Teen Years Explained: Taking Everyday Action to Support Healthy Adolescent Development training. The curriculum consists of multiple modules which are designed for people that work with adolescents including parents, program providers, and teachers. Trainers will highlight the unevenness of adolescent development and focus on the active role that adults need to play in adolescent development.
This training will consist of 3 modules: Introduction fo Adolescent Development, Cognitive Development, and Social and Emotional Development.
Tentative Agenda:
Cognitive Development: Brain and cognitive development are profoundly important for the transition from childhood to adulthood. This module explains biological changes that are happening in the brain, and links these changes to adolescent thinking and behavior. Participants will develop interactive communication skills to help an adolescent think through a decision.
Social and Emotional Development: During adolescence, teens become more aware of their own feelings and those of others. Trainers will outline the components of social and emotional develoment, including the role adults and peers play. Participants will build their active listening skills during role-play activities.
