Every quilt has a story and the Quilt Alliance's mission is to document, preserve and share those stories--and we need your support! This year at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, we will be busy!
We are seeking volunteers to work in our Qult Alliance membership booth (handing out brochures, selling memberships, etc), as well as volunteers to assist staff in our Go Tell It! booth (registering interviewees, handling quilts, keeping time for interviews, etc.). No prior experience is needed and we will provide training at the beginning of every two-hour shift.
All volunteers will receive an IQF volunteer badge, a Quilt Alliance lapel pin and free admission on the day(s) they volunteer. Follow-up communication will include a draft volunteer schedule and information on where and when to check in at the show to pick up your badge.
Please sign up by clicking on the blue Sign Up Now! button below to show your interest in volunteering at Festival 2014. Quilt Alliance staff will then follow up with you via email.
To get an idea of what Go Tell It! interviews are like, visit the Quilt Alliance YouTube Channel to see interviews conducted at Festival 2013. Last year, we interviewed 21 quiltmakers and family members of quiltmakers, including the Handi Quilter Best of Show Award winner Melissa Sobotka (pictured at right). Watch this Go Tell It! interview.
Go Tell It! interviews are conducted with quiltmakers, but also with friends and family of quiltmakers, quilt collectors, curators, and anyone who owns a quilt they would like to share. At Festival 2013, Cathy Arnold, the sister of beloved quiltter Libby Lehman, talked about one of the quilts featured in a special exhibit of Libby's work. Watch this Go Tell It! interview.
Please share this email with friends who plan to come to Festival! We hope to be busy bees at the show this year, and will need a lot of help!
