mini WORKSHOP SERIES III with Regis Brodie

A mini-workshop is designed for the novice, beginner or intermediate or advanced level student who is interested in building a strong foundation of design principles that have been understood & used for thousands of years by artists of all disciplines. This will be basic in its approach, but will give a clear & simple over-view of the essentials necessary to progress further as an artist/potter/sculptor. 

  1. Phi, (F) the Golden Ratio & its Mathematical associates:
    i.     Phi, a ratio of 1 to 1.618                                             
    ii.     Golden Calipers
  2. Fibonacci Sequence: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, & so on forever
  3. Root Rectangles
    i.      1  = 1,  2  = 1.41421,  3 = 1.7320,  4  = 2,  5 = 2.2360
  4. Pi, (), Pi is found in any circle. If the diameter is 1, the circumference is 3.1416 (C = D).
  5. Dynamic Rectangles’ Ratios.
  6. Rabatment of the rectangle is a compositional technique used as an aid for the placement of objects or the division of space within a rectangular frame.
  7. Elements & principles of design.

This workshop will be basic in approach, but will give a clear and simple over-view of the essentials necessary to progress further as a potter or scuptor. This fundamental information is basic to all firing techniques, temperatures and methods using either electric or gas kilns 

The workshop will be limited to 20 participants, on a first come, first served basis with a preference given to our members.
