Safe Church Training - Christ Church, Plymouth

This is a six hour training session designed to: 

1. Increase awareness regarding sexual misconduct 
2. Increase awareness of abuse of power
3. Outline steps toward preventing abuse
4. Offer ways to intervene when misconduct occurs, 
5. Equip anyone in a position of parish leadership with ways of healing and rebuilding the body of Christ. 

Logistics: Christ Church is located at 149 Court Street in Plymouth.  There is a small parking lot behind the church that can be enetered from Grant or Lothrop Streets.  Parking is also available on Grant, Court or Lothrop Streets.  The training will be held in the Church Hall on the second floor of the church offices.  Handicap accessible entrances are available from Grant Street or from the entrance to the church offices off of the rear parking lot.  Doors open at 8 am for registration and light refreshments.  Lunch will be provided by Christ Church; please indicate on the registration form if you have dietary restrictions. 

The training begins promptly at 8:30 am and will follow this schedule of modules:

Introduction and Laying the Foundation

Modules I & II: Power/Vulnerability and Boundaries

Break

Module III: Harassment/Exploitation Abuse/Bullying

Module IV: Child, Elder and Domestic Abuse

LUNCH (provided)

Module V: Reporting

Module VI: Response/Healing

Module VII: Safe Church Policies

Wrap Up: Final Questions, Evaluation and Closing Prayer

 

This training is required of all clergy and diocesan employees. It is also suitable for all employees of congregations, for wardens, vestry members, Eucharistic Visitors (EV), pastoral visitors, youth leaders, confirmation sponsors, retreat mentors, acolyte leaders, choir directors, church school teachers, and volunteers working in the parish on a regular basis.
