Program Description
This course assists in the design and implementation of a sport specific pre-participation physical examination. An emphasis will be placed on performance and concepts of muscle physiology as it pertains to sports performance, along with return to play modification of sport participaton criteria.
Format
The program content will be presented in both lecture and laboratory format.
Outline
Hours 1-2: Review of muscle physiology
Hours 3-4: Bone, muscle and connective tissue adaptations to activity
Hours 5-7: Physiological adaptations to anaerobic and aerobic endurance training
Hours 8-9: Psychology of athletic preparations
Hour 10: Performance-enhancing substances
Hours 11-12.5: Testing and evaluation: principles and administration
