Madison, Wisconsin created one. Learn how it came together and helps drive a community’s creative economy.

The Kenosha Commission on the Arts  is very excited and honored to welcome Anne Katz, President of Arts Wisconsin.  Ann has been very involved in the creation of Madison, Wisconsin’s Cultural Plan.  

Anne will share a Wisconsin “state of the arts” report and give us background on the importance of a community cultural plan and how Madison went about the process of developing their plan.  

This event is hosted by the City of Kenosha Commission on the Arts and sponsored by the Kenosha Community Foundation.

Light refreshments will be served.    Please register by Tuesday, November 11.  Early registration is encouraged as space is limited. 

Anne Katz, Executive Director Arts Wisconsin

Anne is Executive Director of Arts Wisconsin, Wisconsin’s non-profit statewide community arts action, service, and development organization.  Arts Wisconsin’s mission is to nurture, serve, promote and speak up for the arts in Wisconsin and all of its communities.  

Anne has worked with arts organizations in Madison and across the country, including the Madison Civic Center, Madison Committee for the Arts, Madison Repertory Theatre, O’Neill Theatre Center in Waterford, CT; and The Big Apple Circus, New Dramatists, Inc., and The Feld Ballet in NYC.

The list of arts organizations which have benefited from Anne’s expertise and leadership in the arts  is lengthy.  A few examples include:-- Arts Administration Fellow in the Locals Program of the National Endowment for the Arts in 1988-- Past chair of the State Arts Action Council-- Member of the planning committee for the Cultural Alliance of Greater Milwaukee--Member of the founding board of directors of the Wisconsin Nonprofits Association-- Chair of the City of Madison’s Cultural Plan Steering Committee

As a nationally-known arts advocate, she has been a featured speaker at recent statewide arts and advocacy conferences in Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Maine and Tennessee, as well as numerous arts, creative economy, education, economic development and civic conferences in Wisconsin.

She is a graduate of Brandeis University, with a B.A. degree in Theater Arts, and studied drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.
