Fourteen members of the WTO are working in Geneva on an agreement to eliminate tariffs on a wide range of environmental goods. That work started in July. Earlier, when the Administration notified Congress of its intention to enter into these talks, Ambassador Froman explained that "An agreement on environmental goods can make an important contribution to the domestic and international environmental protection agenda." It can also increase trade and the jobs and incomes associated with more trade.
