PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this program is to review the various imaging modalities used to properly evaluate common athletic injuries and then review both conservative and surgical interventional/therapy procedures commonly used today.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Upon successful completion of this program, the student should be able to:
FORMAT
The first part of the series will be presented in a lecture format. A large number of images will be discussed however.
OUTLINE
Introduction to the wide array of imaging modalities commonly used in musculoskeletal imaging, with a heavy emphasis on indication and contraindications for each modality.
SHOULDER
Review of the anatomy of the shoulder joint including the appearance on various imaging modalities.
Detailed discussion of rotator cuff lesions.
Detailed discussion of glenoid labral lesions and defects in the glenohumeral capsule.
Detailed discussion of disorders involving the long head of the biceps tendon/anchor, neural lesions involving trauma/pathology to the shoulder and various other bone/joint lesions.
Review of the anatomy of the elbow joint including the appearance on various imaging modalities.
Detailed discussion of tendon lesions and instability.
Detailed discussion of neural and bone/joint lesions.
WRIST/HAND
Review of the anatomy of the wrist/hand, including the appearance on various imaging modalities.
Detailed discussion of ligamentous lesions and instability as well as bone/joint lesions.
Detailed discussion of Finger lesions.
