Harness the Power of  Storytelling To

Communicate Right from Wrong

 Thursday, Nov. 20, noon-1:30 p.m.

Union Jack’s British Pub, 2072 Somerville Road, Annapolis

Next to the Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole

It’s the phone call everyone dreads. Your business – or your client – has an ethical dilemma and needs help figuring out the best course of action. How will you lead them to the right decision? One way is by telling a story.

Storytelling is a major tool in communicating right from wrong, whether you use fables, parables or case studies. But not everyone is a natural storyteller. Luckily, it’s an art that can be taught. Gain practical advice on how to use stories to navigate the ethical issues that come up in business at the Nov. 20 meeting of the Central Chesapeake Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Ethical questions arise in business all the time and how they are handled is important in maintaining relationships with colleagues, clients and the public. Stories engage people, letting them identify with characters and situations. In this presentation, Emmanuel Tchividjian, senior vice president and ethics officer for global public relations firm Ruder Finn, will give examples of ways to use stories to communicate key principles to clients and colleagues.

Costs are $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers, including lunch.

Tchividjian is senior vice president and ethics officer for Ruder Finn, an independent global public relations firm, a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional and a member of the Ethics and Compliance Officers Association. Although he deals mainly with public relations issues, he uses humor and gives examples to provide guidance on ways to use stories to communicate right from wrong whenever an ethical issue arises.
