The Care of the Patient with an Eating Disorder: A Nutrition Update for Therapists

This workshop will help therapists recognize when inpatient treatment may be needed for patients with a diagnosis of Anorexia, Bulimia, or Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder, and what the roles of the multidisciplinary treatment team members are. Focus will be on the nutrition assessment, nutrition interventions, and nutrition education.
Objectives:
- To describe the indications for making a referral to an inpatient Eating Disorder program for the treatment of the patient with a diagnosis of Anorexia, Bulimia, or Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder.
- To identify three patient goals that may be used in a treatment contract for the patient with an Eating Disorder.
- To state one role of each member of the multidisciplinary treatment team for the patient with an Eating Disorder.
- To describe one component of the nutrition assessment and one nutrition intervention used in the treatment of the patient with an Eating Disorder.
- To state three nutrition education principles included in the nutrition education process of the patient with an Eating Disorder.
This workshop was approved for 1.0 General contact hour of continuing education credit by the National Association of Social Workers - Louisiana Chapter as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.
