The Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute will welcome one of CableWorld’s ‘most influential women in cable’ Susan Packard as the keynote speaker for IMPACT, CWLI’s 10th Annual Leadership Dinner. This event will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

In 1980 Susan Packard began her cable career at HBO then moved to NBC and was part of the start-up team for CNBC.  In 1994 she joined HGTV and became Chief Operating Officer in 1995.  Under Packard’s helm, HGTV became one of the fastest growing cable networks in television history.  Today HGTV is available in more than 99 million U.S. homes and distributed in 175 countries and territories.  She helped build Scripps Networks to a market value of over $10 billion.

Ms. Packard has been recognized by industry peers, colleagues and employees as an innovator, pioneer, role model and mentor.  She received the Woman of the Year award by Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT) and was profiled in Modern Visionaries, a book chronicling the contributions of women to the cable and telecommunications industry.  Contemporary Economics, a high school textbook, profiled her as an entrepreneur in the field of media specialization.  CableWorld magazine honored her among “The Most Influential Women in Cable” numerous times.  In 2008 she was inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame.

Most recently, Ms. Packard has been working on a book based on experiences from her 30-year career. In February 2015, she will release “New Rules of the Game”  in which she advocates for a revolutionary new perspective for businesswomen that she calls “gamesmanship” – a strategic way of thinking that cultivates creativity, focus, optimism, teamwork and competitiveness.

CWLI is excited to welcome Ms. Packard to Chattanooga to serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s IMPACT Leadership Dinner. The skills Ms. Packard has developed to achieve her goals as a businesswoman helped her find tremendous success in her industry and philanthropic work.  Anyone who leads others will benefit from her story and the lessons learned from the various experiences she has had.

“We invited Ms. Packard to keynote our IMPACT dinner because she is devoted to preparing women leaders,” said Ronelle Sellers, IMPACT Chair. “Not only has she been hailed as an authentic and totally engaging presenter, but she provides audiences with actionable steps to implement within leadership teams.”

CWLI is a non-profit, membership organization whose mission is to increase the leadership skills and capabilities of women in the Chattanooga community. Through a variety of networking, training and educational programs, CWLI provides women with connections and skills to help them progress to leadership positions.  For the past nine years, CWLI has hosted several notable female leaders, including Gloria Steinem; FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair; Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell; the first female Chief of the Cherokee Nation, Wilma Mankiller;  Stacy Allison, the first American woman to summit Mt. Everest; Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African-American woman in space; and award-winning journalist Connie Chung.

Tickets for CWLI’s IMPACT Leadership Dinner are $65 each. Table Host sponsorships, which include a table for eight, priority seating and a listing in the program, are $1,200. Please call (423) 394-8173 if you have questions, or would like information on becoming a sponsor for this event.
