After a successful career in the business world around the country, Jim returned to Memphis in 1989 as a Division President for Smith and Nephew and started his own management consulting company in 1998.  In 2004, Jim took over as Executive Director at the MGB, and has since added new gardens, attractions, renovations, and permanent facilities to bring financial stability to the organization.

In honor of his work, the Memphis Botanic Garden foundation recently honored Jim by naming the new multi-million dollar permanent stage The Jim Duncan Stage. Memphis Botanic Garden.  Jim will share his experience at the MBG since 2004, inheriting a debt-ridden organization and transforming it into one of the nation's most beautiful garden attractions.

Jim and his wife Elizabeth recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.  Jim shares his wealth of experience in the business and nonprofit world on various boards of directors, including Youth Villages.
