What is Aging Doing to My Body?
(And What Can I Do to Stop It!?)

FCA presents a webinar on how aging affects the body and suggestions on healthy aging. Our bodies are miraculous, over hundreds of miles of nerves, tendon, muscles and veins. Mix in the water, minerals and brain matter and we have a life. An average life span for 2014 is now 80.4 years in California. As our bodies age each body system goes through changes. We will discuss each of the 11 body systems and how they may be altered by age. We will also look at ways we can either slow or repair those changes.
Objectives:
-Enhance the knowledge of the physiological systems.
-Discuss the patho-physiology of each system in the aging process.
-Suggestions on healthy aging through nutrition, exercise and monitoring.

Program Director & Geriatric Care Manager at Compassionate Community Care
Ladi Markham holds degrees in hospitality, gerontology and nursing making her a very knowledgeable and compassionate caregiver. Ms. Markham has worked in long term care communities for over 10 years and Home Care for 3 years. Ms. Markham was Director of Food Services in a high-end San Francisco community. She transitioned to Marketing and then was promoted to Office Manager of a large CCRC in Oakland. While working, she pursued her Masters in Gerontology and completed her training as Administrator for Skilled Nursing. Next, she completed an Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing degree. Further, working in Assisted Living communities as Health Services Director gave her an excellent base of knowledge in working with hundreds of older adults. As a registered nurse, Ms. Markham is rewarded everyday by being a mentor and teacher to a staff who provides holistic and practical care to its clients.*This webinar costs $15 (please purchase ticket at least 24 hours before this webinar).
