We will also brainstorm on plans for safe social media usage within your organization.

Saturday, February 21st

Morning Session: 8:30 am - 11:15 am Ethical Obligations in Public Service & Public Values, Dr. Wally Siewert, Executive Director, Center for Ethics in Public Life, University of Missouri St. Louis
Interactive discussion of the nature of ethical obligations in public service and an exploration of the value frameworks involved. A central ethical feature of public service is the extent to which individuals are required to sacrifice their private interests in service to the public good. What are the limits of this obligation and what kinds of values constitute the public good? Combining case-studies and public value theory, as well as digital audience polling technology, the goal will be to provide participants the opportunity to explore the myriad kinds of potentially conflicting values involved in the public sphere in a systematic way, hopefully providing new tools with which to think about and address them when they conflict.

Luncheon: 11:15 am - 1:15 pm NACCTFO Business Meeting

Afternoon Session: 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm Cyberspace Update, Dan Andrews, Information Technology Director, Osceola County, Florida Tax Collector
Technology increases efficiency and convenience for customers and other stakeholders. Yet it also creates challenges for those charged with collecting and safeguarding the processes and data. In this session, participants will hear the perspective of an IT Director, who will explain the many dangers associated with using technology and offer practical advice on how to be safe and secure in this complex age. Participants will also have the opportunity to share information on the challenges and opportunities they face in their offices.

The final agenda will be emailed to all registrants.
