About Shared Parental Leave

The new Shared Parental Leave (SPL) Regulations came into force on 1 December 2014 and will apply to eligible parents of babies born or children adopted on or after 5 April 2015. The Working Families' breakfast briefing will examine the key changes under the law.  It will explain the new rights and obligations for employers and employees and how these might affect existing policies for organisations. We will also consider the practical implications for organisations of SPL.

The briefing will answer a number of employer questions we have been receiving, such as:

• What is the likely take up and business impact of shared parental leave?
• How can I work out how much it will cost if we choose to match shared parental pay with maternity pay?
