Pre-Intern Training Overview

We teach incoming interns all the tools of the trade during 3 days of unique hands-on training in basic open and endovascular skills.

Trainees will practice their skills in hands-on workshops covering vascular dissection, ultrasound prep, ultrasound-guided access, anastomoses, endovascular techniques, and radiation safety. Interns will complete homework assignments on vascular physiology, ultrasound prep and vascular grafts, to ensure deep understanding of these topics. A homework review in the morning sessions allows us to tailor the day’s lectures to fill gaps in knowledge.
 
Our program ensures functionality inside and outside of the O.R. We explain how interns are assessed by the program and by ACGME. We teach how to do case logs, prepare and present cases at conference, and how to review articles for journal club. We discuss crew resource management and how to manage consents and errors. After completing this course, incoming interns will feel more confident and prepared for the demands of vascular residency.
