Awakening Wisdom: Joy of Living Level III

A Weekend Workshop with Tergar Instructor Cortland Dahl

In this weekend workshop, we will explore the causes of suffering and dissatisfaction through the practice of insight meditation. By bringing our unchallenged beliefs and patterns into the light of awareness, we can see how our rigid ideas often blind us to the richness of our true nature. The wisdom that arises through insight meditation allows us to see our inner experience clearly. This leads to a sense of freedom, well being, and confidence that is rooted in awareness itself and available to us each and every moment.

The schedule for this weekend workshop includes DVD teachings by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, presentations on the key points of meditation practice by Tergar instructor Cortland Dahl, as well as guided meditations and discussion.

This retreat is open to meditators who have previously attended Joy of Living Level I and II meditation workshops and meet the practice requirements, as well as to those who have not attended these workshops, but who have practiced meditation regularly for at least three years. For those who have not previously attended Joy of Living Levels I and II, we recommend that meditators attend these teachings in the future before continuing further.

Please visit the Tergar websites for information on upcoming online courses and events.

About Cortland Dahl

Cortland began meditating in 1993 while a student at the University of Minnesota. In the years that followed, he practiced and studied a number of Buddhist traditions and traveled extensively throughout Asia, where he spent time on retreat in Japan, Burma, India, and Nepal. Following this period of travel, Cortland returned to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in Buddhist Studies at Naropa University. He then lived in India and Nepal for seven years, which gave him the opportunity to immerse himself in the Tibetan language and spend more time in retreat.

Since 2003, Cortland has interpreted for various Tibetan lamas and taught courses on Buddhism and Tibetan language throughout the world. He founded the Rime Foundation in 2004 and, under the direction of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, started the Tergar institute in 2006. As an author and translator, Cortland has published numerous works, including Entrance to the Great Perfection: A Guide to the Dzogchen Preliminaries; Great Perfection, Volumes I & II; and Deity, Mantra and Wisdom: Development Stage Meditation in Tibetan Buddhist Tantra.
