CCJPA 3rd Track Extension Project Update with Jim Allison

We are pleased to welcome Jim Allison, Manager of Planning for the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) as our program speaker on Thursday, December 11th to discuss CCJPA's 3rd Track Extension Project.

The Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority is currently conducting preliminary engineering and an environmental analysis for construction of a 3rd track between Sacramento and Roseville in an effort to provide up to 10 daily round trips for passenger rail in the future. Don't miss the opportunity to learn more about this exciting new passenger rail service project in the Sacramento region!

About our Speaker:

Jim Allison graduated from UC Davis with an Environmental Planning and Management Degree. He began his professional career at the Bi-State Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) working in current planning. He then transitioned to the transportation section of long range planning at TRPA where he worked on all aspects of transportation planning as a Senior Transportation Planner and the Air Quality Program Manager. In 2000, he obtained a position as a Senior Planner at the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority (CCJPA) whose parent agency Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), manages the Capitol Corridor train service.

Jim currently serves as the Manager of Planning for CCJPA, where he oversees rail infrastructure, service planning, and technology/amenity planning for the Capitol Corridor. He played a foundational role as a rail operator in getting Wi-Fi on trains and he continues to expand applications and services built on communications technology. He is a frequent speaker on this topic and has also had a fundamental role in expanding the relationship of bicycling and passenger train service within the Capitol Corridor. Jim is an avid bicylist and a board member of the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates.He lives in Sacramento with his wife and two daughters.
