PALS Provider

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider course is designed to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently evaluate and effectively manage seriously ill infants and children. Course content includes how to assess for evidence of respiratory and circulatory compromise, establish treatment priorities, and intervene when necessary to stabilize the child. Treatment of the respiratory and circulatory systems, management of cardiac arrest and arrhythmia, and immediate post resuscitation care are renewed. 

Registration includes a copy of the current PALS student manual.

Prerequisites:  This course does not teach CPR skills, interpretation of rhythm strips, or basic PALS pharmacology. Before taking the course students must be proficient in the following:

  • Performing CPR skills using the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC
  • Reading and interpreting basic ECG rhythm strips
  • Knowledge of basic PALS pharmacology
  • Complete the self-assessment CD-based test on the PALS student CD
