Sharpen up your Sharpening Skills!
Tuesday, February 17, 2015
For years, instrument sharpening involved the moving stone technique. This allowed easy visualization of the angle between the face and moving stone. However, research has shown the moving instrument technique produces the most precise cutting edge. A new sharpening device called the Sharpening Horse now allows clinicians to see the angle between the face and stone while using the moving instrument technique. This course will teach you how to use this new device and improve your sharpening skills!
Karen Wynn, RDH, MEd is a professor at NHTI - Concord’s Community College. She is a second year clinical coordinator and teaches Oral Anatomy and Periodontology. She is also a past President of NHDHA and served as a delegate to ADHA for 5 years.
