Dr. John Harper: "Science & Some Issues that Matter to Canadians - Climate Change and the Fracking Conundrum", January 22, 2015

Dr. John C. Harper, P. Geol., FGSA, FGAC, will address the topic "Science and Some Issues Which Matter to Us: Climate Change and the Fracking Conundrum" on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Ranchmen's Club.

Dr. Harper is President, Harper Consulting International Inc. and has an extensive background in industry, academia and government circles.  He began his professional career with Shell Development Company, and subsequently worked for Trend Exploration Ltd. and then Conoco Phillips Canada. He would become a Professor, Geology and Sedimentology, at Memorial University where he taught and mentored many young minds to "take care of the basics".  Subsequently, he would join the Geological Survey of Canada as Director of Energy in Calgary.

Many of John's best experiences over the yearshave been achieved by integrating geological, petrophysical and geophysical data to describe siliciclastic and caarbonate environments at both basin-wide and field development scales.  He has championed research into Canadian energy issues including gas hydrates, carbon capture, Arctic research, Canadian sovereighnty and the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB).

The Canadian Club of Calgary is honoured to have Dr. Harper to share his wisdom and experience with us and to provide us with insights into matters affecting our lives.  To many of us, Climate Change and Fracking may be somewhat foreign and he will bring these into focus so that we are able to better understand the real science and facts behind the headlines.
