WA Statewide Transition Conference

                March 20th, 2015

Join us in Yakima for the next Washington Statewide Transition Conference!  We are excited to bring together another great conference to learn and discuss methods to increase school to adult employment outcomes.  You will hear about practices that bring students and their communities together to land jobs and create futures. We will discuss adult resources working in partnership with schools and families, making a more seamless transition process.

Ellen Condon

Meet our Keynote Presenter!

Ellen Condon, M. Ed. is the Transition and Employment Projects Director and Montana State Deaf-Blind Project Coordinator at the University of Montana’s Rural Institute on Disabilities where she has worked since 1996 on Transition and Employment for youth with significant disabilities.  She is also a consultant with Marc Gold & Associates (MG&A), Griffin-Hammis Associates, and she serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the Office of Disability Employment Policy at the U.S. Department of Labor on the Employment First State Leadership Mentor Project.

Ellen Condon's keynote address will focus on the concepts of customized employment and how it eliminates the need to compete for employment and removes many prerequisites that have traditionally kept people from the work force. This session will introduce individualized and creative strategies that promote access to paid community employment for all students with disabilities, even those in rural remote locations, and those students with a significant impact of disability.   This session will illustrate how these approaches can blend with transition planning and employment preparation for all youth.

Other session topics to be included:

  • Starting Early in Transition
  • Assistive Technology
  • Social Security benefits
  • ACHIEVE transition program at Highline Community College
  • Partnering with schools and adult services
  • and more to be announced!

What's included in your  $100.00 registration fee?

We will provide breakfast, lunch, handouts and session materials, and exhibits.

Clock hours will be available for teachers and credit units available for VR counselors.
