The Honorable Ted Kaufman will discuss his tenure as a U.S. Senator and many prior years as a Senate staffer, and his views on how and why the congress and our political system works or doesn’t work. He will place special emphasis on his experience trying to regulate Wall Street more closely after the financial crisis. He will also share reflections on the ethical questions and challenges individual members must confront and related policy changes that could be effective. 

About Senator Ted Kaufman:

  • United States Senator from Delaware from 2009-2010
  • Chief of Staff to United States Senator Joseph Biden for 19 years
  • Served as Chair of the Congressional Oversight Committee of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) 
  • Board member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) from 1995 until 2008
  • Visiting Professor, Duke University Law School
