On Saturday, October 3rd, fans of local flowers will gather in Aurora, Oregon, at Oregon Flowers Inc., where we'll celebrate seasonal flowers and delicious regional food and beverages.

The company operates on 50 acres, with 8 acres under glass, producing an estimated 7 million stems of flowers and foliage annually.

Oregon Flowers sells its crops (lilies, tulips, calla lilies, peonies, hydrangea, and other flowering and ornamental shrubs and perennials) to wholesale florists in all 50 states and its blooms can be found locally in the Northwest at New Seasons Markets.

Our Host Flower Farm: Oregon Flowers, Inc.

Situated in the heart of the Willamette Valley, Oregon Flowers Inc. opened its greenhouse doors in 1985 with a focus on producing top quality, consistent, and reliable cut flowers.

Today, Oregon Flowers continues this practice, growing lilies, tulips, calla lilies, and numerous seasonal cut flowers for wholesalers across North America.

In addition to fresh, prolific greenhouse varieties, Oregon Flowers grows seasonal tulips and calla lilies, plus a variety of field cut flowers and berries.

Our hosts, Martin and Helene Meskers, and son Tyler Meskers, pursued the American dream of grown cut flowers when they settled in the small agricultural town of Aurora, not far from Oregon's prolific wine-producing region.

They selected this region for its excellent soil quality and favorable climate for flower farming. Learn more about the Meskers family and their flowers in this recent article by Janet Eastman of The Oregonian.

Featured Winery: Van Duzer Vineyards

Van Duzer Vineyards, located in the Willamette Valley community of Dallas, has joined the Field to Vase Dinner Tour as our featured wine partner for the Oregon Flowers' event. We couldn't be more thrilled to feature local wine, along with local food and local flowers!

This allows Van Duzer's winemakers to achieve purity of fruit and texture of their Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, along with elegance and balance. The wines are well-suited for consumption with food, age-worthy and reward those who are patient.

Carl and Marilynn Thoma Van Duzer Vineyards was purchased by Carl and Marilynn Thoma in 1998.

They have continued to farm the 26-year-old vines planted to Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris while gradually upgrading and improving the vineyard practices through sustainable agricultural practices and winemaking.

Van Duzer Vineyards is a member of LIVE, Inc. (Low Input Viticulture and Enology) and has been certified “sustainable” and Salmon Safe.

The vineyard maintains high biological diversity with strict accordance to LIVE's international standards. It promotes minimizing agricultural chemicals and fertilizers in conjunction with an Integrated Pest management program.

In the vineyards and in the production of its wines, Van Duzer Vineyards uses absolutely no GMO (genetically modified organisms).
