Annual April Quarterly Membership Meeting

April 15-17, 2015 at the Oregon Garden Resort

We will begin the ORA April Quarterly with a special Meet & Greet
at the Capitol on Wednesday, April 15th.

Wednesday afternoon will be all about legislative engagement. ORA has reserved a room in the State Library, just across the street from the Capitol as a staging place for members to gather materials and compare notes as they meet with legislators on the Value the Work, Raise the Wage initiative, support for relief on eXPRS billing, the QRF Program, etc. ORA will provide refreshments and information to members both before and after their appointments.


Governor Kate Brown has been invited to join us on Wednesday but her attedance has not yet been confirmed.

ORA Legislative Chair Jeanne Farr and Nan Heim will also be on hand Wednesday to give you tips on how to effectively deliver your message to your legislator. We'll have more on this as we get closer, but don't wait to schedule an appointment with your legislator on this date.
 
Thursday and Friday will be dedicated to sharing day supports strategies - who's doing what and what's working among ORA members.

ODD Director Lilia Teninty and VR Interim Director Trina Lee will join us Thursday for a join State of the State report for ODDS and VR.

Dana Hittle and Jane Ellen Weindanz will be back to report on the progress of the HCBS Transition Plan.

We'll also hear from Ces Coulson on employment policy from the federal to the State level and an update on progress of the Transformation grant project. Ces is the Executive Director of WISE and was also recently appointed to the Advisory Committee on Increasing Competitive Integrated Employment for Individuals with Disabilities. The committee is a key part of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and will be advising the the Secretary of Labor on:
  • Ways to increase employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or other individuals with significant disabilities in competitive integrated employment;
  • The use of certificate program carried act under section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for the employment of individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or other individuals with significant disabilities; and Ways to improve oversight of the use of such certificates.
Friday is another information packed half day with tools to build your DSP Cohort from PCL, new mobile tools from Therap and a discussion oh the future of I/DD housing from Heber Nelson, DD Community Housing Manger and Don Erickson, COO of ODDS/APD.
