Literacy Accommodations and Assessment
Any platform, anywhere: iOS, Chrome, Windows, the Cloud.

Computer eco-systems in education are expanding and diversifying, creating new opportunities and challenges for special educators:  iPad’s, Chromebooks, browser based tools, not to mention the array of various Windows systems from XP desktops to the latest Windows 8 tablets.

 In this Bridges LIVE session you will experience hands-on the most current literacy accommodations, assessments and support tools on a variety of platforms. You will learn what’s possible with these new cloud computing systems, what are the limitations and opportunities so that you can make an informed decision for your learners and your school’s needs.  This session will be an engaging talk-play, talk-play format that puts these technologies and the research behind them into a context that’s relevant and practical.   

BYOD: 
Laptop, tablet, iPad? We encourage you to bring your own device, to ensure that you try these cloud-based tools in your eco-system.

Co:Writer Universal, uPAR Universal Protocal for Accommdations in Reading Tool, Symwriter Online, Kurzweil 3000 Web License.

  • Universal access to literacy supports:  text to speech, word prediction, reading to writing, symbol supported writing. Attendees will tryout supportive literacy tools in Chrome, Windows, internet browser, iPad and other tablets.
  • Everywhere access to literacy accommodations:  teachers, students, administrators, para-educators, at home and at school.
  • Breaking the reading assessment backlog:  Making efficient reading accommodation decisions with data-driven easy to implement cloud based assessment that ensures fidelity and accountability.
  • French Immersion student’s can be accommodated too! Assistive technology goes bilingual with literacy tools for Instruction in French Schools with Core English, English Instruction with Core French in English schools, French Immersion, FSL/ESL etc.
