Pruning Essentials for
Trees and Shrubs

Local certified arborist Sean Tait with Inland Arbor and experts at the Yakima Area Arboretum will show you how to properly prune and shape your trees and shrubs to create healthy, long lasting plants.  You will also learn the proper time to prune, the best cuts, what to do with an overgrown shrub or tree, and how to fix past pruning disasters.  

Following a lecture on tree biology, and proper pruning techniques, students will head outside for hands-on training.  During the hands-on workshop students will practice pruning, recognize tree hazards, and lastly learn when it is time to throw in the towel and call an arborist. 

This class will give you the knowledge and confidence to step into your own yard with pruning shears in hand. 

Students should bring gardening gloves and any pruners or small saws they currently use.  Please dress for the weather.
