Quilt Alliance Volunteer Sign Up for QuiltCon 2015 in Austin, Texas

Every quilt has a story and the Quilt Alliance's mission is to document, preserve and share those stories--and we need your support!  This year at QuiltCon 2015 in Austin, Texas, we will be busy!

  • On the show floor, we will conduct Go Tell It at the Quilt Show! interviews (3-minute video oral history interviews) with quilters whose work will be exhibited in the Modern Quilt Guild juried show as well as quilters and collectors whose quilts are featured in the Special Exhibits. These interviews will be scheduled in advance and conducted by Quilt Alliance staff.
  • We will also be conducting Go Tell It! interviews with anyone who would like to bring a quilt to the show to share. These interviewes will check in at our booth and the interview will be conducted in a quiet area of the convention center adjacent to the exhibition hall. Click here to register for a Go Tell It! interview at QuiltCon.
  • And, again this year (and this is where YOU come in), we will have a Quilt Alliance membership booth (booth #936 in the nonprofit section at the front of the show floor), where staff and volunteers will: share information on membership and projects with attendees, giveaway mod Quilt Alliance luggage tags to all who sign our mailing list and offer guests a chance to play our Mod or Not? game where players compete for prizes by guessing which quilt is the Modern quilt and which one is the older quilt with a Modern flair.

No prior experience is needed to volunteer and we will provide training at the beginning of every two-hour shift.

All volunteers will receive a QuiltCon show pass on the days that they are scheduled to work (as needed), and a Quilt Alliance tote with goodies from our sponsors. Follow-up communication will include a draft volunteer schedule and information on where and when to check in at the show to pick up your show pass.

Please sign up by clicking on the blue Sign Up Now! button below to show your interest in volunteering at QuiltCon 2015. Quilt Alliance staff will then follow up with you via email.

Watch Go Tell It! Interviews Recorded at QuiltCon 2013

To get an idea of what Go Tell It! interviews are like, visit the Quilt Alliance YouTube Channel to see interviews conducted at QuiltCon 2013. Last year, we interviewed 7 quiltmakers and family members of quiltmakers, including the Best of Show Award winner Victoria Findlay Wolfe (pictured at right). Watch this Go Tell It! interview.

Please share this email with friends who plan to come to QuitlCon! We hope to be busy bees at the show this year, and will need a lot of help in our booth--we predict the Mod or Not? game will be very popular!
