"Pay Yourself First"

A Business Owner's Guide to Personal Finances

Overview:

The workshop begins with a hard look at some stats of the average business owner – in debt up the their eyeballs and over leveraged.  No wonder so many businesses fail!  Then we move into a philosophy for understanding money, and 5 skills and strategies needed to balance the books and make sure they are paying themselves, not just all their vendors!  Finally, we end the workshop with a tour of some of the personal and business budgeting software out there I’ve tested and recommend to my clients.  (QuickBooks is good for accounting, but not as intuitive for budgeting).

Description:

So your business is earning some money, but by the time payday rolls around, bills, surprises and other gotchas have robbed you of the earnings for which you’ve worked so hard!  Is paying yourself difficult?  What about your personal finances?  Do you have a strategic spending plan for yourself?

This workshop will give you a crash course in bringing home the bacon, and making sure that once it’s brought home, it stays there!  Learn the latest apps and software for personal and business budgeting, and get insight into how to plan for expenses when your income is as unpredictable as Chicago’s weather!
