With a panel discussion with professionals in the field and young adults with ASD

Summary: This presentation will be broken down into two sessions. From 9am-11am, Dr. Brown and Dr. Brodkin will speak. This session will focus on the transition from high school to college for students with ASD as well as a new research project examining services to enhance social functioning in adults with ASD. After a short break, the second session will begin. It will conclude at 1pm and will feature a panel discussion. Topics will include: what can schools and families do to better prepare students with ASD, strategies needed to be successful college students, what programming is available in higher education for students with ASD, and more.

This lecture is intended for individuals with ASD, their families, and professionals supporting them. We also invite anyone who is interested in learning more about ASD to attend.

 Upon completion of this lecture, participants will be able to:

        1. Discuss the transition to college for students with ASD.
        2. Describe current research examining the enhancement of social skills in adults with ASD.
        3. Summarize what students, their families, and providers can do to prepare for the transition to college.
        4. List the programming/accommodations available in higher education for students with ASD.
