Trompe L'Oeil Mastery Program 

Please join us for all or part of the Trompe L'Oeil Mastery Program workshop series in Spring 2015 with William Cochran. Lunches, snacks, drinks, and all necessary artistic materials are supplied.


WHERE SHOULD I STAY? Comfortable, affordable lodgings are available just 5 miles away on the outskirts of historic Frederick, Maryland. A list of likely hotels will be sent when you register for a class. If you are interested in sharing transportation and/or lodging expenses with another student, let us know and we will provide a way for you to contact one another.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE? WHAT TIME DO YOU BEGIN CLASS? Classes start at 8:30 am. On the first day, please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early, and about 10-15 min. early on subsequent days, so that you are settled in and ready to start on time. Although most classes are scheduled to end at 5:30 pm, it’s best if you can be somewhat flexible about the end time each day.

HOW DO I GET THERE? Frederick is one hour’s drive from three international airports. We recommend Baltimore Washington International airport for most participants.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING? Most classes have supplies included or Loaned, unless noted. Or you may want to Bring your own familiar brushes or other materials.

Because this is a studio environment, be sure to wear warm, comfortable clothes That you won’t mind getting paint on.

Snacks, drinks and a full lunch will be provided on all days that you are in the studio. Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions or other special needs.

We are happy to help you pack your class samples for return travel. If you don’t want to take your painting on an airplane, we will be happy to ship it to you.

WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT/CANCELLATION POLICIES? A 50% deposit is required for classregistration, via credit card or check (use the discount code DEPOSIT). The balance is due before the class begins. You may cancel a workshop up to 30 days before the start date to receivefull refund of your deposit, less a $25 administrative fee, or you may apply it towards another workshop. If you cancel within 30 days ofthe workshop, we cannot refund the deposit, but you can apply it to a future workshop. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the workshop is scheduled to begin, the deposit is forfeited and cannot be refunded or applied to a different workshop.

If we must cancel a workshop, you can receive a full refund, or apply it to a rescheduled class.

Upon receipt of your deposit you will receive a confirmation letter or email.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SEE AND DO? Frederick and the surroundings area is rich with history, gorgeous countrysideand beautiful state and national parks. Unique boutiques and art galleries join restaurants of all kinds and price ranges in historic buildings in one of the nation’s oldest and best preserved historic districts. Frederick’s Arts and Entertainment District boasts several live theaters and open concert venues, which provide diverse seasonal entertainment. Live music, theatre, and comedy can often be seen and heard on weekends. Numerous public artworks by William Cochran, including Community Bridge and The Dreaming, which is especially arresting at night. Other smaller murals and glass projects dot the cityscape. Historic sites and museums abound. Located only 60 minutes from the great museums and attractions of Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Maryland, Frederick is also at the center of a Civil War heritage area, with the Gettysburg and Antietam battlefields nearby. Harper’s Ferry is 30 minutes to the west. Preserved forests and rivers nearby include two magnificent national parks: Cunningham Falls Park (20 minutes north), and Great Falls Park including the C&O Canal, 50 minutes south.
