A Piece of My Heart, based on interviews of Vietnam War veterans, shares the stories of six women – three nurses, an officer, a singer and a Red Cross Volunteer – who serve in Vietnam in the late 1960’s. Music intertwines with dialogue in this haunting drama as the characters remember their lives during and after their experience, exposing the physical and emotional costs of the war.
A Piece of My Heart is rated PG-13 for violence, language, and depictions of war.
Cast of A Piece of My Heart: Yael Gordon, Becca Havian, Julia Kelly, Sophie Nadler, Maura Phillips, Claire Wong as the women. Saam Jalinous and Elliott Gordon play all the male characters while guest appearances include Cole Bloomfield, Joseph Chan, Eric Mura, Scott Ng, and Grady Weatherbee.

When blue collar worker Devon has a “sister’s weekend” with her younger sis, Simone, in a Martha’s Vineyard estate, personalities clash. A hit at the 2011 Humana Festival for New Plays, Metzler’s play is both a hilarious satire and a surprisingly emotional knock-down-drag-out culture clash about the choices that shape who we become.
