2015 Duke Energy Merit Badge Encampment

Register Now!        THIS LINK WILL BECOME ACTIVE AT 10 a.m. on MONDAY, MARCH 16

The Duke Energy Merit Badge Encampment is back for its 27th year on May 8 - May 9. Space is limited so make sure you register early.

Please read the following before registering your troop. As changes have been to this year's encampment:

  • Please know ahead of time which merit badges your scouts will need to register for. A maxium of 2 classes should be selected for EACH scout.  They will be placed in one of their selections.

  • Registration will ONLY be taken online. Please DO NOT call the EnergyExplorium to register your troop. In year's past, the EnergyExplorium has been flooded with calls - they will not be making any adjustments to your selections on registration day.  No exceptions!
  • Once registration CLOSES, changes to registration can only be made by calling the EnergyExplorium NO LATER than Friday, March 20. Changes WILL NOT be accepted after that date.

  • If you are attending the event Friday night, please be sure to review the information below as changes have also been made.

  • Absolutely NO TRAILERS - The only troops allowed to bring trailers are Troop 49 and 97 as they will be providing the breakfast and lunch for the event.

Friday Night

Check-in will begin at the EnergyExplorium on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Please have only one scoutmaster come to the reigstration table to check-in your troop. Troops will set up their campsites and settle in for a comfortable night on the McGuire lawn.

A patrol flag competition will be held. Please be sure to bring your best patrol flag!

A cracker barrel for scoutmasters will also take place on Friday night. More details will follow after registration.

If scouts are only planning on staying Friday evening and will not take part in breakfast or classes the next day, please DO NOT register them.

Saturday

We are offering 22 merit badge classes this year. Classes will begin around 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m., with an hour lunch break. Please ensure your troop has appropriate adult supervision. Because space is limited in every class, we cannot guarantee every registrant will be placed in his first choice.

Requirements - PLEASE READ

  • Attendance will not be confirmed until payment is received. Payment must be received at least TWO WEEKS prior to the encampment.
  • Lone scouts will need to register as part of Troop 49. Please do not register as an individual - add Troop 49 when registering.
  • Adults will be needed to sit in on classes and provide general assistance. Please ensure your troop provides additional adult supervision.
  • Every troop is asked to bring a gift which will be given to one of the merit badge instructors. Please use your creativity – nothing expensive:  a troop hat, troop t-shirt, Klondike derby-type plaque, etc.
  • Scoutmasters are to provide signed blue cards. Scouts will not get credit for the merit badge class without a complete blue card, including confirmation that all pre-work requirements have been completed.
  • Prerequisite requirements will not be covered but will be provided once registration closes.
  • All Boy Scout and Duke Energy rules and regulations must be strictly adhered to. Failure to follow rules will result in expulsion from the encampment. Rules and regulations will be sent to all registered troops for scoutmasters to review with their scouts before the event.
  • Class A Uniform is required at all times.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the encampment, please call the EnergyExplorium at 980-875-5600.

PLEASE NOTE:

To ensure your registation goes through, please be sure you are using an UPDATED web brower.

You will not be able to add or remove adults and scouts after you submit registration. If you have additional scouts to add, you will need to cancel your registration and re-register - the system will not allow you to add scouts after you hit "submit."
