March CREW Luncheon

Speakers Lisa Jones,  Stacey Denaux, and Leigh Ann Garrett

Please join us for our Female Non Profit Panel as we welcome guest speakers Lisa Jones (Marketing and Events Manager) of Komen Race for the Cure, Stacey Denaux (CEO) of One80 Place, and Leigh Ann Garrett (Events, Marketing, and Program Manager) of Center for Women and discuss women in community service.

Lisa Jones is an event coordinator, fundraiser and works for a mission based nonprofit.  When I began to work for Komen the thought of being diagnosed with breast cancer, while working for a breast health organization, never crossed my mind.  Ironically I am now a three year survivor and the vision I once had for my role with Komen Lowcountry has changed from a job to a mission to find the cures.  Originally from North Carolina I have lived here 22 years and worked for several other Charleston nonprofits.  I have also volunteered with nonprofits in event planning for their organizations.  Brainstorming ideas with groups is something that I love to be involved with and I get very excited about.

Family life consist of a husband, who is an attorney and two children ages 25 and 22.  Let’s not forget the two Golden Retrievers!

Stacey Denaux is the CEO of One80 Place, South Carolina’s largest homeless services provider in its 30th year of operation.  Prior to joining One80 Place, Stacey established the Office of Advancement for First Baptist Church School.  For ten years prior to that, she worked as the founding Executive Director for The Education Foundation, which is the education arm of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. Under her leadership, the Foundation became a national model for education reform and advocacy.

Stacey is active in a number of professional associations and serves as an officer for the Lowcountry Homeless Coalition, on the membership committee for the S.C. Association of Non-Profit Organizations and has served in leadership capacities for the South Carolina Homeless Coalition among other organizations.  She is an active member of the Trident United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council.  She earned a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of South Carolina and is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organization Management.  She is a Riley Institute Diversity Fellow and in 2009, was named Non-Profit Leader of the year by the Trident United Way.

Leigh Ann Garrett was born & raised in Fairhope, Alabama and moved to Charleston in 1999 to attend the College of Charleston. While there, she found a passion for communications and more importantly, women’s issues and the Center for Women. What started as an internship at the C4W her Junior year, has led to a full-time career there, now 10 years strong!

Leigh Ann has a wonderful hands-on husband of 8 years and 2 precious little girls, Mollie age 4 and Annie, 6 months. In her spare time (whatever that means!) she loves to participate in local activities, events & happenings with her family, going to the beach, host get-togethers at home, couponing, traveling and enjoying the amazing dining options all over our city.

In 2009, Leigh Ann was accepted and graduated from Leadership Charleston, a 10-month program for professionals offering an intensive and up-close look at various issues impacting our region, hosted by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. In 2010, she was awarded one of Forty Under 40, by the Charleston Regional Business Journal. An active volunteer & Board Member with Distinguished Young Women and her daughter’s school Coastal Christian Prep she is tied into what’s happening. Leigh Ann is also a current member & active participant of the American Marketing Association, Charleston Chapter, SCANPO the South Carolina Association of Non-profit Organizations and the networking group, Women at Work.

Her mission is to be a positive influence and an advocate for women of all ages, always building one another up in confidence and courage!
