Presenting on "Practical Cognitive Accommodations and Therapies in Sensory Processing Disorder & Addiction"
Course Abstract:
Addiction disorders are often accompanied by cognitive and sensory changes in the brain that compromises outcomes. To meet these challenges, caregivers must be prepared to implement cognitive and sensory accommodations, as well as therapies. The accommodations are aimed at protecting the brain from further decline. There are a wide assortment of interactive therapies to choose from today, utilizing sound, touch, movement, visual, olfactory, and mental stimulation.
Course Objectives:
1. Understanding common cognitive & sensory medical sequela in addiction.
2. Practical cognitive accessibility considerations and accommodations.
3. Discussion of popular sound, touch, movement, visual, olfactory, and mental therapies today.
