Presenting on "Using Neuroscience to Reverse the
Course of Depression"

Course Abstract:

This course demystifies the intricate brain processes that cause depression and offers practical and effective strategies for altering brain activity and chemistry. New advances in neuroscience have uncovered the means by which effective antidepressant therapies modulate brain activity and chemistry. Furthermore, much of this neuromodulation can be accomplished through life change that individuals can make on their own. With a better understanding of the brain, patients and clinicians are better able to modify the neural circuits controlling mood, habits, decision-making and focus, and thus reverse the course of depression.

Course Objectives:

  1. Explain the basic neuroanatomy of depression.
  2. Explain the basic neurochemistry of depression.
  3. Explain strategies for altering brain activity and chemistry.
