Parry Guilford, BSC, MSC, PHD

Professor Parry Guilford is a      principal Investigator in the  Cancer Genetics Laboratory,  University of Otago, Dunedin,  New Zealand, and the Chief  Scientific Officer and co-founder  of Pacific Edge Biotechnology  Ltd. He completed his MSc at  Otago in 1983, and his PhD at Cambridge University in 1989. During postdoctoral studies at the Paasteur Institute in Paris, he led a team that localised the first genes for non-syndromic recessive deafness. His current research interests include the genetics of inherited cancers, in particular stomach cancer, and the application of genetics to the diagnosis and management of cancer. He has worked for the last 10 years with the Maori tribe Ngai te Rangi researching the causes and treatment of inherited stomach cancer. Guilford has served on NSFC's Scientific Advisory Council since 2010 and has been the recipient of two NSFC research grant awards.

Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer:
The past, the present, and hope for the future
A unique opportunity to connect with those affected by Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer (HDGC) and learn the full story about it from expert Dr. Parry Guilford, who joins us from New Zealand, where his work with a Maori tribe led to the discovery of the CDH1 mutation.
