Use play to make learning fun!
This year's Summer Camp experience is presented in partnership with the Field Day Lab at the UW Institutes for Discovery. Join us and presenters David Gagnon, Discovery Fellow/Program Director and Jim Mathews, Education Director, for a truly fun and interactive two days!
On day one everyone will explore both analog and digital approaches to learning that leverage games, digital media and the world around us. On day two you will choose one area to investigate further:
Games - After seeking inspiration from well designed games, participants will work toward building a functional prototype of a board game. Learn about resources that are available to help you get the final version of your game professionally printed and packaged for classroom use.
Interactive Stories - Create a platform for students to explore the universe through the development of interactive stories inspired by contemporary learning science and supported by technology. Work on developing your own mobile GPS story using ARIS, a user-friendly, open-source platform for creating and playing mobile games, tours and interactive stories.
This event will be held at the newly renovated commons area at Brown Deer High School. This award-winning space will provide access to both indoor and outdoor work areas and accommodates multiple learning modes.
Participants can register individually or as part of a team.
