Feranmi Okanlami

When Dr. Feranmi Okanlami was asked to be a part of this event, he knew he couldn’t say no. As a member of the medical community (he was an Orthopaedic surgery resident, and is now completing a residency in Family Medicine) he knows how programs like those led by UHS are vital to a community. After a diving accident in 2013 paralyzed him from the chest down, his own road to recovery has led him to experience the need for healthcare services from a patient's perspective. This summer, after completing a master’s degree at the University of Notre Dame, he will swing into his full-time residency program at Memorial and give back by supporting programs through UHS and A Rosie Place. When he isn't trying to keep up with his son, Alexander, he serves as the Vice President of The River City Challenges Athletes, overseeing the local wheelchair basketball team & also participating in sled hockey.
