Understanding the Social Scene:

Youth Parties and Trends in Substance Use

Natick Together For Youth along with Natick Public Schools, SPARK Kindness and the Natick High School PTSO invite you to an informational night featuring three separate 'tracks' - one for middle school youth, one for high school youth and one for parents - giving participants the chance to learn among their peers. 

Parent Program

Special guests include: James Hicks, Natick Police Chief;  Shelley Joseph, Attorney and parent; and Rick Cresta, Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Social Work.

  • Pick up useful facts to use when talking with kids.
  • Understand the laws pertaining to alcohol and marijuana use in Massachusetts.
  • Get tips for being a responsible party host for middle school and high school youth.
  • Connect with other parents who want to see their kids make healthy decisions around alcohol use, marijuana and other drugs.

High School Youth Program

NHS students who attend can receive up to 2 Community Service hours and in addition are eligible for other prizes to be raffled that night.

  •  Chief Hicks will answer anonymous questions from students in a special Q&A session (for students only).
  •  Learn the myths and facts about marijuana from Mr. Cresta
  • WIN PRIZES playing a fun Myth Busters game.  Prizes include VIP Parking spaces at Natick High School for the 4th term and gift cards to local businesses! 

 


Middle School Youth Program

  •  Enjoy a fun night with high school peer leaders from Natick Against Student Substance Abuse (NASSA) and participate in activities and discussions about living alcohol and drug free in high school. Students will also receive free NTY water bottles and pencils!
  • They will also will share tips on how to be successful in high school without using alcohol and drugs and will seek to empower middle schoolers with messages intended to foster self-confidence.
