10,000 Alaska Airline Miles Prize
$5 Per Ticket
Tanana Valley Watershed Association and Thrivalaska are celebrating the arrival of spring with their Annual Green Up Day Classic - a guessing contest. The tradition began in 1974 when scientists at the West Ridge of the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus looked out on the western flank of Chena Ridge. “Green Up Day” is determined by the National Weather Service. The exact day of “greenup” is when ”leaf buds in birch and aspen open just enough to produce a faint but distinct green flush through the forest canopy”. Guessing the right day enters you in the drawing to win 10,000 Alaska Airline Miles! Each ticket costs $5, and proceeds help connect kids to nature through Thrivalaska and TVWA's Watershed Discovery Zones.
